Luxury Slate Roof with Copper Barrel Dormers

This 10,000+ square foot estate needed a roofing system that would last fifty years and look like it belonged on the house. The homeowners chose natural slate in a weathered gray tone with custom copper barrel dormers. We stripped the existing roof, reinforced the decking where the new weight required it, installed a high-temperature underlayment, and set every slate tile by hand. The four copper barrel dormers were fabricated off-site to match the exact dimensions of each opening, then installed with hand-formed lead step flashing. Ten weeks on site. Scaffolding was up the entire time and we kept the property clean enough that the owners hosted guests through the final month of the build.
