When you need more space but you're not ready to move, a home addition is the answer. We've built everything from 200-square-foot master suite additions to full second-story expansions.

Home additions are more complex than interior remodels. You're touching the foundation, the roof line, and the building envelope. The design and permit process takes longer. That complexity is why you need a contractor who's done it before — repeatedly.

Types of additions we build:

  • Primary suite additions: Add a bedroom and bathroom to your existing footprint. These are our most requested additions — families who want a master suite but don't want the disruption of an upstairs conversion.
  • Family room and great room additions: Expand your living area, add volume with vaulted ceilings, open up the back of the house. These often pair with kitchen remodels when we're already working in the home.
  • Second-story additions: Add living space above the existing structure. Requires engineered plans and structural analysis of existing walls and foundation. Timeline is longer — typically 4–6 months for a full second-story addition.
  • Garage conversions and ADUs: Convert an attached garage to living space, or add a detached ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) in the backyard. Austin has specific ADU ordinances — we know them.
  • Sunrooms and screened porches: Three-season rooms, four-season additions with HVAC, or screened porches with insulated roofs. These range from $30,000 for a basic screened porch to $120,000+ for a fully conditioned four-season room.

The permit process

Every addition requires a building permit in Austin. Structural additions also require engineered drawings stamped by a licensed structural engineer. Plan review times currently run 4–8 weeks with the city. We submit on your behalf and track the application.

Matching existing construction:

The biggest challenge with additions is matching the existing home — roofline, siding, trim profile, brick pattern, window style. We take this seriously. Our additions don't look like additions.

We added a primary suite to the back of our house in Circle C. 600 square feet, vaulted ceiling, full spa bath. They managed the permits, coordinated all trades, and kept us informed every step. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

My four-season sunroom in Travis Heights is where I spend most of my workday. Bright, comfortable, works in 100-degree summers and cold fronts. They designed it to actually function, not just look good.

Room addition in Buda — we needed a home office with a separate entrance. Wise handled design, permits, and construction. 12-week project, exactly on budget. The finishes match the existing house.
